Vadivelu Comedies

Kumaravadivel Natarajan (born 12 September 1960), professionally known as Vadivelu, is an Indian actor, comedian, and occasional playback singer who has predominantly worked in the Tamil film industry. With more than 290 film credits, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential comedians in the history of Tamil cinema. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including two Filmfare Awards South and six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

Vadivelu made his acting debut in 1988 with En Thangai Kalyani, directed by T. Rajendar, during the peak popularity of the legendary comedy duo Goundamani and Senthil. His exceptional comic timing and unique style quickly earned him widespread recognition. The media later coined the nickname "Vaigai Puyal" (Storm of the Vaigai), a tribute to the Vaigai River that flows through his hometown of Madurai.

Over the years, Vadivelu has won several Best Comedian awards for his outstanding performances in films such as Kaalam Maari Pochu (1996), Vetri Kodi Kattu (2000), Thavasi (2001), Chandramukhi (2005), Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi (2006), Pokkiri (2007), Marudhamalai (2007), and Kathavarayan (2008).

His first leading role came in Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi (2006), which became both a critical and commercial success, establishing him as a capable lead actor in addition to his celebrated comedic career.
